Welcome to Brick Forward, a project designed to share the joy and excitement of LEGO with children in our wider communities, especially those who may not have regular access to LEGO bricks play and building.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I initiated the LEGO Scavenge Extravaganza in my local neighborhood. I sorted and curated 40 boxes of LEGO (made possible with our own LEGO collection and donations from neighbors), hiding them throughout our community for kids and families to discover. Their mission was to solve clues, locate the hidden LEGO boxes, and then use the pieces to construct and share their creations with everyone in the neighborhood. This initiative brought joy to children and families who had been isolated and helped strengthen our community through exploration, creativity, and sharing.
Since then, I've expanded this event to my local elementary school with donations from the community, and the most recent LEGO Scavenger Hunt in 2023 featured 176 curated LEGO kits. Over 50,000 LEGO bricks have been distributed throughout these events, and these LEGO kits continue to bring happiness to children. Through the establishment of Brick Forward, my goal is to empower anyone interested in spreading kindness and happiness to others.
I aspire to create a grassroots organization where individuals can curate unique LEGO kits and contribute to the LEGO building movement, one school and community at a time. Together, we can inspire creativity, foster community engagement, and nurture a sense of togetherness.
